Planning of the CSR’23
The now annual Cost & Schedule review 2023 will take place between the 13th and the 17th of November. Following the management request, this will be an extended edition, as opposed to the ‘light’ version in 2022.
Update on the HL-LHC Project Status
The project reached several key milestones since the last Newsletter. Among the many achievements I would like to highlight here the celebration for the completion of all Civil Engineering work in January at CERN.
Project Planning and EVM
The implementation of the EVM (Earned Value Management) system for the HL-LHC project was ready for the 2nd Cost & Schedule Review (CSR) that was held in October 2016.
Outcome of the 2018 Cost and Schedule review
The 3rd Cost & Schedule Review of the projects HL-LHC and LIU was held at CERN on 26th – 28th of March 2018. As usual, the panel is composed by the CMAC (CERN Machine Advisory Committee) members with the addition of a few other international experts
Summary of the TCC Day and New Schedule as Agreed on during November Meeting in 2019
In an effort to further enhance the communication and transparency of activities having potential dependencies in terms of schedule or resources on other HL-LHC WPs, a first TCC day was organized on 12th March 2020.
Report from the November Cost & Schedule Review
The 4th Cost & Schedule Review (CSR) of the HL-LHC project was held at CERN from 11 to 13 November 2019. The review panel was composed as usual by CERN Machine Advisory Committee (CMAC) members and ad-hoc experts.
Update on the HL-LHC Project Status - Issue 4
The period following the 9th Collaboration Meeting in Fermilab, 14-17 November 2019, has been exceptionally rich in events. The most striking has certainly been the COVID-19 emergency, with long periods of lockdown almost everywhere.
Preparation of the C&S Review 2021
At the request of the management of CERN, four extensive Cost and Schedule Reviews (CSR) of both the LIU and the HL-LHC projects were carried out in March 2015, October 2016, March 2018, and November 2019.
Update on the HL-LHC Project Status - Issue 5
The progress since the last collaboration meeting in October 2020 has been truly remarkable and the project successfully passed several key milestones for the project implementation in spite of the COVID-19 restrictions.
Planning of annual meeting and CSR’22, including summary of CSR’21 outcome
Following a very successful exercise in 2021, CERNs Council has requested the Cost & schedule reviews of the HL-LHC project to be held annually, a lighter edition alternating every second year with a full project review.
