Collaborations
Overview of collaboration status
The HL-LHC collaboration office continues to update existing and put in place new agreements. Since the beginning of 2023 we have been busy updating UK Phase 1 agreements allowing for the final invoicing to take place.
Highlights from the HL-LHC Work Packages
Following the project re-baselining in summer 2016, the layout and optics of the high luminosity insertion regions were reviewed and the performance re-evaluated.
Summary on the outcome of the 2017 Chamonix and the 28th USLARP meeting in Napa in April
The 2017 Chamonix workshop featured three joint sessions between the HL-LHC and the LIU project. The main observations from Chamonix 2017 relevant for the HL-LHC project were the following ones.
3rd HiLumi Industry Day in the UK
The third edition of the HiLumi Industry Day took place in Warrington, a few minutes away from Daresbury Laboratory, in May 2017. This two-day event jointly organised by CERN and STFC gathered some 200 participants from 17 European countries.
Progress on the Civil Engineering preparation for P1 and P5 of the LHC
The key highlights of the Civil Engineering work include the completion of the preliminary design of the civil engineering works at Point 1 and Point 5 at the end of 2016 by the external Consultants.
Highlights from the HL-LHC Work Packages
During a measurement campaign in 2017 at the LHC, it was clearly demonstrated for the first time the beam lifetime improvement due to a compensation of the beam-beam long range effects, using DC current baring wires.
Summary on the outcome of the 2018 Chamonix meeting
The 2018 Chamonix workshop featured three sessions for the HL-LHC project. The sessions at Chamonix provided the first chance for a technical and performance review of the project following the re-baselining in 2016.
Update on the Collaboration Partners and Contributions
The 7th HL-LHC Collaboration Board took place during the 7th HL-LHC Annual Meeting in November 2017, jointly organized by CIEMAT and CERN in Madrid, Spain. One of the focuses of the 7th HLCB meeting was a summary of the existing agreements for in-kind.
Report on the CD2 DOE Review
The US HL-LHC AUP effort successfully defended its plans to DOE in December 2018, and was baselined in February 2019. This major step provides the funding agency approval of the total estimated Project cost.
Update on the Collaboration Members and Contributions
The 8th HL-LHC Collaboration Board took place during the last HL-LHC Annual Meeting in October 2018 at CERN. During the last months, several collaboration agreements have been prepared and are in the process of signature or advanced stage of finalization.
